Inscribed in ink at the head of the title page, “L. Saltonsall with the editor’s affectionate respects. 4th Feb.,” presumably from the Unitarian professor and sometime editor of the North American Review, John G. Palfrey; per the entry in the AAS catalog, “Attributed to John Gorham Palfrey in Cushing. Anonyms.” The English Unitarian Carpenter would not publish his own Harmony until 1835.
