The lyrics to popular songs; the patriotic songs include a lengthy piece on Perry's victory, plus additional naval songs celebrating McDonough's victory on Lake Champlain, and Hull's victories with the Constitution, which is characterized in the lyrics as "a tuf [sic] and strong boat"--the patriotism of the sentiment going so far as to extend to using Webster's early proposed phonetic American reformed spelling.
