The Fayette County Poetess here provides a highly detailed (though somewhat disjointed) memoir of her long years in Washington Court House, Ohio. This volume perhaps best considered as a resource for ambitious genealogists, since nearly every anecdote is interrupted at a critical juncture by a digression on such subjects as the succession of owners through which a building mentioned in the story may have passed, with subsequent exposition of the marriages and offspring of ancillary landlords. Such simple facts as the year of the author's birth (1878?) may be but shakily deduced, and then only by working backwards from mention of such things her father's joint venture in a grocery store.
