Charming studio portrait carte de visite of an unidentified woman with a curl hanging loose.

Kenosha, Wis. Photographed by Truesdell, [ca. 1860-1870?]. Image approx. 3.5 x 2 inches on a slightly larger gilt-ruled mount, Truesdell backstamp. Some light browning, wear and dust-soiling; in very good condition. Item #15879

A lovely and even haunting image. Per a genealogical account of the Hollister family (into which Truesdell had married) the photographer had come to Kenosha in 1860 and was both a photgrapher and oyster-packer through his retirement in 1884. (The Hollister Family of America, Chicago 1886).
