Sandy-Hill, Washington Co., N.Y. Printed at the Sun Office, May, 1827. One of two editions published in 1827, the other an Albany imprint. 8vo, removed pamphlet , 34 pages. A trifle toned, with a few spots of browning; a very good copy. Item #16426
An attractive title page and a curious imprint. Sandy Hill, New York changed its name in 1910 to Hudson Falls; the village is about 50 miles north of Albany; given that the essays were commissioned by the Albany Synod, it seems likely this curious (and more uncommon) Shady-Hill imprint followed the 56-page Albany edition published the same year. (Whether this edition was in fact authorized seems an open question.) Old nonce volume's stiff blue free endpaper still attached prior to the title page. American Imprints 29356.
