The first standard biography of the painter, from his widow Georgiana Burne-Jones (née Macdonald--she was one of the remarkable Macdonald sisters). A working copy from the library of Michigan artist Carleton Angell, with his ink signature dated 1947 to the front free endpaper of each volume. (Earlier ownership signature dated 1904 to the front free endpaper in vol. 1.) With the 1947 invoice from Exter bookseller James Commins (£15 plus £1/10 post) mounted to the rear free endpaper of vol. 1. Angell appears to have tipped a portrait of Burne-Jones into the endpapers of vol. 2 with clear tape.
