A romance set in the Temagami forests of northern Ontario: a white man comes into the backwoods and takes an Ojibway maiden for his bride before he leaves her for civilization and his Beatrice. A peripheral piece of lost race fiction, the First Nations people here handled with some sensitivity but of course standing in as a sort of lost innocence and test of manliness, etc. With the Frederick Skiff bookplate on the front paste-down.
