The progress of a Baptist preacher across Vermont and New Hampshire. Kendrick had been born in Connecticut in 1772 and moved into a log cabin in Hanover, N.H. in 1777; he became a Baptist as a young man, back when "the Baptists were a small people, not much respected; and doubtless many supposed they would never be. Their preachers were unlearned; their baptism very unpopular; and their singing did not charm, being performed by the congregation." Starr, Baptist Bibliography, K685; Gilman, Bibliography of Vermont, page 146; Kaplan 3185; cf. Sabin 37371, noting the 1850 third edition.
