Bajan Cookbook [wrapper title].

(Champaign County, Illinois: n. p.), [ca. 1974]. First edition. Original printed pictorial blue wrappers, 8.5 x 5.5 inches, [2], 13, [1] pages. Some light sunning and dust-soil; in very good condition. Item #18434

With a label mounted to the inside from wrappers, “PREPARED BY: Marilyn Farley, 1974 IFYE Delegate to Barbados from Champaign Co., Illinois.” Likely a service project required of her 4-H trip, Farley includes a brief introduction to culinary customs of Barbadoes, followed by a nice selection of recipes to give an overview of Bajan foods, from Jug-Jug and Souse, to Callaloo, to banana fritters, to drinks such as Mawby, Sorrell, and Rum Punch. (This last includes the intriguing annotation in the recipe, “I once turned Lena Horne ‘on’ with this punch, and she sparkled. It’ll do the same for you and your friends.”).

Price: $30.00
