New York: n. p., (1870). First edition? 12mo, original blind-stamped brown cloth, gilt lettering, 192 pages. Some slight rubbing to the corners and the foot of the spine; a nearly fine copy, much nicer than usually encountered. Item #18544
An early edition of the celebrated lectures on sex disorders, female diseases and the evils of onanism from one of the members of the enterprising Kahn/Jordan family of anatomy museum proprietors; this copy with an ink stamp to the title page and to two additional pages of text, “Presented by Dr. Louis J. Jordan Former Partner of Dr. Kahn, deceased.” This small introduction to the medical services of Kahn gives the early 51 East Tenth Street address for the museum, though the stamp of course suggests at least a later issue. See Atwater 2060 (noting a 196-page edition of the 1870 copyrighted version) et seq. for more on Kahn and the Jordans (including an argument that Dr. Kahn may have existed only on paper as a liability shield to Dr. Louis J. Jordan); Atwater also notes a number of other editions of this work.
