Cöthen [i.e., Köthen]: heim Verfasser, In Commission dei F. A. Gupel in Sondershausen, 1862. Stated forty-first edition. Original wrappers and string tie, 4.75 x 4 inches, iv, 92 pages. Wrappers worn, soiled, somewhat stained, and the rear wrapper detached; a little loss to the lower corner of the last leaf, but no loss of sense; a good, sound copy. Item #18574
A popular pamphlet on health, including instructions on diet, from the pioneering homeopathic healer Lutze (1813-1870), published under the nominal imprint of Köthen, where his extensive residential clinic had been established in 1855 (and itself something of an ancestral home of homeopathy—Hahnemann had for a time practiced in Köthen). Despite the gaudy edition statement, this ephemeral and utilitarian title noted only in scattered holdings of various editions; the format recalls that of a popular almanac, and copies seem to have seen hard use.
