(Hollywood: Wonder Books Co.), [ca. 1962?]. First edition? Original pictorial wrappers, 8.5 x 5.5 inches, pages. Illus. A little rubbed; a very good copy. Item #18587
A canned biography of the ex-vaudeville conjoined twins, this account itself fastened inextricably as published to a detailed novelization of the 1951 exploitation film Chained For Life—a potboiler starring the twins that revolves around a cheating lover and a courtroom trial for murder, a movie often considered on par with such contemporary classics as Plan 9 from Outer Space. The publisher’s notice on the rear wrapper includes a ZIP code, suggesting this version was distributed after 1962—about the time the twins had fallen nearly completely off the public radar and become grocery store clerks in North Carolina. Somewhat later price tag to the front wrapper. OCLC notes two locations (under the wrapper title).
