The author’s case study of a magnetic treatment of a woman (for headaches, etc.) and her episodes of slipping into a trance state under treatment; Tardy de Montravel attempts in part to explain accounts of such somnambulism through the application of theories of mesmerism and the nervous system. The Suite du traitement magnétique, sometimes found bound with this title (with a separate title page and signatures) was evidently separately published the same year. Crabtree 161. This copy bound without the half-title. Lower margin of the first six leaves neatly restored, touching the descending portion of a letter and nearly clipping a signature, but otherwise unobtrusive.
