The Life, Trial, Condemnation, and Dying Address of the Three Thayers! Who were Executed for the Murder of John Love, at Buffalo, N. Y. June 17th, 1825.

Buffalo: Printed for the Publisher, [1825]. First edition, this issue or edition with three coffins on the title page. Unbound pamphlet, stitched, 9 x 5.75 inches, 16 pages, untrimmed. Three woodcut coffins on the title page. Somewhat toned and dust-soiled and worn; in very good condition. Item #18972

A nice early Buffalo imprint: the three brothers were in debt to John Love, so they shot him in the head, finished him off with an axe, and buried him in a shallow grave. The brothers were all hanged, and the account of their execution includes a lengthy set of admonitory verses. McDade 972 (with a single coffin; “There is another ed. of 16 p. with three coffins on the tp.”); American Imprints 21219.
