A controversial work from an important early Christian Connexion figure who spent his life a resident south of Rochester, New York (though he traveled much for preaching); the preface to this new edition, dated Canaan, N. Y., November, 1836, makes much of the demand for his first effort in 1823 and the lively nature of the ongoing Trinitarian-Unitarian controversies. For more on Millard and his role in the early Connexion movement, see Olbricht, Thomas H. (1966) “Christian Connexion and Unitarian Relations 1800-1844,” Restoration Quarterly: Vol. 9 : No. 3 , Article 1. American Imprints 45619. Lovely early pencil ownership inscription and drawing dated 1849 to the front blank.
