The Lost Brothers of the Alleghanies [sic, wrapper title; caption title:] The Lost Brothers of the Alleghanies: From Real Life, Sad But True . . . Memorial Service held May 8, 1906, being the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Finding.

[N. p., but Hollidaysburg, Penna.? n. p., 1906]. First edition. Original pictorial peach wrappers (spine overstitched in an amateur restoration effort at an early date), [2], 8, [2] pages. Illus. Soiled and worn; a good, sound copy. Item #19357

A discursive commemoration of a well-known tragedy delivered at the dedication of a memorial to Joseph and George Cox, two young brothers in Western Pennsylvania wandered off from home and were lost in the mountains; their corpses were eventually located when an area man had three successive dreams that revealed to him the location of the bodies. Pencil ownership signature at the head of the front wrapper. This obvious local production would evidently seem to precede the Elgin, Ill. edition published by the Brethren Publishing House.
