Small square inch ink stain to the text and inner border; some light foxing and soiling; old folds; in very good condition. Item #19811
This example of printing on cloth not found in OCLC or the AAS catalog, likely intended for a Sabbath-School audience; AAS notes other juvenile titles on cloth from Boston Chemical Printing, noting the firm as “active primarily during the 1830s.” Threads of History notes a few examples of Boston Chemical Company juvenile kerchiefs (Sabbath-School Hymns, etc.) but attributes publication dates of ca. 1850-1855. (See Threads of History 227-230; this kerchief not noted.) The typography of this particular examples would seem to skew toward the earlier end of this 1830-1855 range.
