Some clue to the condition of this copy might be guessed from the juvenile ink inscription to the front pastedown, “George Nelson Barnestead [?] 1843 Not This Book For Tearing Shame.” Evans 20412; Rosenbach 118; Welch 463.4: “A publisher’s remainder of it was found some years ago.
