A lovely and uncommon tune book from the Framingham farmer and singing master Belknap (1771-1815), who published his first tune collection in a pamphlet in 1797; this title, his third, “was a more pretentious work [than his previous two]. It had 152 pages, and contained many pieces that had never before been published, quite a number of which bore the names of Middlesex County towns” (Metcalf, American Writers and Compilers of Sacred Music). Britton, American Sacred Music Imprints, 87; American Imprints 9953.
