A fine, comprehensive trade catalog, with everything a dairy or cheese operation needs to operate--from steam boilers or tubular dairy heaters (includes a discharge curd gate), to curd knives, presses and hoops, steam engines, leather belts, bandages by the yard (perhaps giving some idea of industrial dairy working conditions), piping and hoses, rennets and annatto, as well as promotional material for cheesemaking techniques and sample by-laws for cheese factory associations. The front wrapper includes a fine cut of an attractive cow. Pencil signature across the head of the front wrapper. University of Guelph notes this 1873 edition; the Hayes Presidential Center Library notes the Whiteman & Burrell catalog as an undated serial; the Henry Ford in Deaborn, Mich. holds an 1885 version, Cheese factory and creamery apparatus, illustrated.
