The New Testament of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Translated out of the Original Greek . . .
New York: American Bible Society, 1859. 8vo, publisher’s elaborately embossed brown leather, gilt lettering, 112 pages. Some rubbing to the spine and corners, with a little trifling cracking on the spine; a few small stains along the lower edges; a little darkened; a very good copy. Item #18087
A lovely example of an American embossed publisher’s calf binding, the Pica Octavo edition of the Testaments, and just a little too late for Wolf’s From Gothic Windows to Peacocks. Early ink and pencil autograph inscriptions in the endpapers, with a small early mounted clipping (on the meaning of the word “Selah”) on the rear paste-down.
