Harrisburg, Pa. Gedruckt und zu haben bey G. S. Peters, [ca. 1835-1839?]. Original printed pictorial glazed orange wrappers, 5.88 x 3.5 inches, 16 leaves printed on one side only. Fifteen color-printed illustrations. Some trifling rubbing and wear; some occasional light foxing; bleed-through and some browning from the color ink to the blank versos of the printed leaves; a very good copy. Item #19168
A nice copy of an early edition of the Peters edition of the Joseph story (the first evidently appearing in 1835), from America’s first color printer; the illustrations are printed in red, yellow, and green from multiple color blocks. This undated edition has the first page (the alphabet) and the final page (numbered 18, all text) either printed directly to the insides of the wrappers or mounted to the inside of the wrapper, most likely the former.
