Homicide in Connecticut. McDade 905: “He murdered Harriett and Ella Starkweather in bed with an ax and attempted to burn the house, hoping thereby to get the family farm. The phrenologist reported his conscientiousness as weak; his hope, large.” McDade notes versions also without the added phrase “and his confession” on the title page.
