Original embossed red buckram lettered (presumably in Metro) in black (10.63 x 7.75 inches), xxxix, [1], 1215, [1] pages, irregularly paginated with insertions and gaps, as published. Illus. Some slight bumping and light soiling and a couple of fly-specks to the upper board; a nearly fine copy. Item #21626
A nice copy of the handsome comprehensive Linotype specimen known popularly as Big Red.
Includes an early example of the W. A. Dwiggins Electra typeface. (One of the examples of Electra includes an excerpt from the Limited Editions Club Gargantua and Pantagruel, which was published in 1936.) Also includes ornaments, borders, etc., and non-Roman typefaces like Hebrew, Devanagari, Armenian, and Arabic.
