The typeface design commissioned by Deberny & Peignot from the poster artist Cassandre, a stressed sans serif intended as a text typeface that instead enjoyed a vogue as a display type in the 1940s. This specimen was also issued in a large paper edition of 50 copies as the “Premières Épreuves du Caractère Peignot.”.
