L’Emballage Moderne: La Caisse Carton.
Paris: Laboratoire Générale pour Emballages, (1935). First edition. Original pictorial kraft paper wrappers (10.63 x 8.38 inches), 99, [1] pages. Illus. Some general wear and light foxing; a very good copy. Item #22504
An example of industrial art that one could imagine avidly consumed both by technocrat and Man Ray alike, a trade catalog that rises to the level of artist’s book. Amply illustrated with technical photos demonstrating the superiority of corrugated kraft cartons over wooden crates. The examples of cardboard cartons as ideal shipping containers become increasingly baroque as the catalog progresses, from such expected case studies as dishes or fruit soon giving way to gasoline pumps and tubas. OCLC notes two locations only, both in France.
