“Every schoolboy knows the terrible results of this abominable secret vice, and every observing man has seen about him examples of the results of such lustful excesses.” A characteristic pitch for this discreet remedy for sexual diseases (to be taken internally or applied directly to the glans), ranging from impotency, debility and lost manhood, to prophylaxis against venereal diseases: “The Insane Asylum, the Paralytic and Epileptic Hospitals and the Grave have been cheated of many a promising victim by use of Von Graef’s Trochees.” The testimonials are dated through 1885. With the wrapper title Manhood, Vigor, Offspring. The Atwater catalog notes a few later examples of pitches from the Von Graef company but not this one.
